Dallas, TX — October 16, 2012 — Systemates, Inc. announced today that Constructech Magazine awarded Milton Hershey School the Bronze Vision Award in the category of Corporate Owner Education. Milton Hershey School's Construction and Facilities Department won the Vision Award for its innovative use of Projectmates construction management software. The award was presented during a dinner and ceremony at the San Mateo Marriott Event Center near San Francisco at the conclusion of the seventh annual Technology Day conference.
Heather Coughlin attended the ceremony to accept the award on behalf of Milton Hershey School.
It is the first time I have ever worked with software that you can share the information, transactions, and data with the contractors. To me that's really exciting," said Coughlin, who helped implement the construction industry software in early 2011. "We have saved several relationships with the contractors where you can prove whether something has been submitted or not submitted. There's no longer an argument as to whether or not it's there. You can see whether or not it's there."
In the past, tracking budgets accurately and in real time was a challenge for the Construction and Facilities Department. Due to this, invoices were not always paid on time and reporting to management was difficult. Since using Projectmates, the department has improved financial tracking, prevented accounting errors, and brought issues to light more quickly. Coughlin explains, "A contractor had submitted an invoice with an incorrect calculation. Upon being keyed into Projectmates, the correct calculation was evident, therefore alerting staff to ask for a corrected invoice. If we did not have the ability to track contracts and subsequent invoices in this way, the invoice may have been paid incorrectly."
Milton Hershey School and Systemates have enjoyed a partnership that has spanned nearly two years. "The support that we receive from Projectmates has always been absolutely one of my favorite parts of dealing with Projectmates... their support and guidance and willingness to work with our requirements as a company. There is just not customer service out there anymore like theirs," said Coughlin.
Milton Hershey School won the Bronze Vision Award for its innovative use of Projectmates construction management software. Highlights include:
- The majority of contractors working with the Construction and Facilities Department actively participate in Projectmates, engaged in construction workflow like RFIs, submittals, and document sharing. Communication and ease of project management has improved substantially.
- All commitments and payments are tracked in Projectmates, improving financial tracking and reports and preventing accounting errors.
- The school's IT Department hosts the software on an in-house server, adding value savings.
